We spent the first night at our new house last night. We borrowed an air bed from Cory and Laura and after running around (Laura generously lent us her van to use until tomorrow morning) and gathering some essentials from wal-mart, we headed home to discover no electricity or water hook ups...so a few hours and many telephone calls later (praise Jah that we got the cell yesterday) we could turn on a light and flush the toilet. Rob was moving in overdrive, hanging up blinds and putting on a new toilet seat...it was funny to watch. We hit the sack around 12:30am and awoke around 5 with our bed all deflated and frrrrreezin' cold. The plug had popped out of the airbed and because we didn't turn the gas on and the floors aren't insulated it was pretty chilly, even for the south. So we ended up putting on a couple pairs of pants and sweaters each, pumpin' the bed up again and we slept a bit longer. We noticed when we were sitting on our porch this morning that everybody else in our neighbourhood has plastic over their windows (for drafts) as well as over these vents in the space under the house - everybody except us that is...so we're learning as we go. Even though it wasn't a dream sleep, we awoke feeling blessed, because we knowKNOW that this is da spot, fo' sho...
We even already met one of our neighbours, Nicole who was walking by and stopped to chat to us. At first she was about 15 feet away, and gradually she came closer and closer and chatted to us for a while. It really was a treat.
